CSG FAQ

Q: Why is the email I send being incorrectly tagged as spam?

If you are using the CS mail server as your outgoing SMTP server and are connecting from a non-IU address but not using authentication, then your email will be subject to the same spam filters as other email from unknown sources. If you are using an IP address that happens to be listed in some blacklist then your email may have a high spam score on the CS server. You can easily prevent this by just using authenticated SMTP per the Outgoing SMTP server FAQ entry. Once you set up authenticated SMTP, you will be a trusted sender and your email will not go through the spam filters (although it will still pass through the anti-virus filters).
