September 8, 2003 - Kerberos/.htaccess realm change

The Kerberos Realm used for web-based authorization has changed from UCS.INDIANA.EDU to IU.EDU. This means that any .htaccess file that previously contained:

KrbAuthRealm UCS.INDIANA.EDU

will have to be changed to

KrbAuthRealm IU.EDU

We already made this change for all the .htaccess files that reside on the CS web server (www.cs.indiana.edu, aka. grouchy) and the CS CGI server (cgi.cs.indiana.edu, aka. grumpy). However, we did not make any changes to .htaccess files residing in personal home directories. If you are using kerberos authentication in your personal .htaccess files you must make this change as soon as possible. The old UCS.INDIANA.EDU will continue to work until at least September 15th, 2003, but is likely to be decommissioned shortly thereafter.

For more information about using kerberos with .htaccess files on the CS servers, please see the associated FAQ entry.
